Split PDF

Extract selected page groups from a PDF into separate documents, then download them together as a ZIP file processed in your browser.

Drag & drop a PDF here, or

PDF · up to 50 MB · 500 pages maximum

PDF files are processed locally and are never uploaded.

Add a PDF to see how many pages it contains.

Upload a PDF first. Each comma-separated range becomes a separate PDF; leave blank to create one PDF per page.

What is the split pdf?

A PDF splitter separates selected pages into smaller PDF documents. Use it to pull a chapter, form, receipt or appendix out of a larger file, or divide a long scan into manageable sections. Enter comma-separated page numbers and ranges; each group becomes a separate PDF, and all results are packaged in one ZIP download. Leave the selection blank to create a one-page PDF for every page in the source. The tool works locally in your browser, accepts files up to 50 MB and 500 pages, and does not upload your document.

How it works

Choose one PDF, then enter groups such as 1-3, 5, 7-8. Each comma-separated item creates one output file, and ranges include both endpoints. Page numbers start at 1; ranges must ascend, stay within the document, and may not repeat pages. Leave the field blank to split every page separately. When you click Split PDF, the tool loads pdf-lib on demand, copies the requested pages without rasterizing them, and packages the resulting PDFs in a ZIP archive. The page reports progress as each file is created and offers the archive when processing finishes. Files remain on your device; password-protected or damaged PDFs may not open.

Worked example

Suppose a 12-page application PDF contains a cover sheet, a six-page form, and five supporting documents. Enter 2-7, 8-12 to make two files: the form and the supporting pages, leaving the cover sheet out. Click Split PDF; the tool creates two PDFs and places them in an archive named after the source file. Download the ZIP and open it to review both documents. If instead you leave Page groups blank, the tool creates 12 one-page PDFs. Keep the original file if you may need a different grouping later.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split selected pages into separate PDFs?

Enter comma-separated page numbers or ranges, such as 1-3, 5, 7-8. Each item becomes a separate PDF in the downloaded ZIP.

What happens if I leave the page groups blank?

The tool creates one single-page PDF for every page in the source document, then packages them into one ZIP archive.

Are my files uploaded?

No. PDF pages are copied and the ZIP is created in your browser. The source file is not sent to a processing server.

What are the file and page limits?

The tool accepts one PDF up to 50 MB and 500 pages to keep browser memory use bounded.

Can I use the same page in more than one group?

No. Page groups must not overlap. Enter each page at most once, using ascending ranges within the source document's page count.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

No. Unlock the PDF in a trusted PDF application first, then select the unlocked copy.
