What is the webp to jpg converter?
This tool converts WebP images into JPG (JPEG). WebP is a modern format that saves images from many websites and apps at a small file size, but not every program accepts it — older photo viewers, some printing services, certain document editors and a few social platforms still expect JPG. Converting WebP to JPG gives you a file that opens virtually everywhere. Like JPG generally, the output can't store transparency, so if a WebP has transparent areas they're filled with a background colour you choose (white by default). The conversion happens entirely in your browser using the canvas engine — your images are never uploaded — and you can convert one file or a whole batch and download them as a ZIP.
How it works
Add your WebP files, choose the background-fill colour to replace any transparency, and set the quality slider for the JPG output. Each WebP is decoded onto a canvas over the chosen background and re-encoded as JPG, with a before/after size comparison. Animated WebP files are converted using the first frame only, with a notice, since JPG is a still format. For batches, a progress bar tracks the work and a single ZIP bundles the results.
Worked example
You saved a few images from a website and they came down as .webp files, but the photo-print service you use only accepts JPG. You drag them in, leave the background on white, set quality to 90%, and convert — now you have JPGs that upload to the print service without complaint, at nearly the same visual quality.
Frequently asked questions
Why won't my WebP file open somewhere?
WebP is newer than JPG, so some older apps, printers and services don't support it. Converting to JPG produces a file that opens almost everywhere.
Does WebP to JPG lose quality?
There's a small re-encoding step since JPG is lossy, but at high quality it's usually invisible. Both are lossy formats, so keep the quality slider high if fidelity matters.
What about transparent WebP images?
JPG can't hold transparency, so transparent areas are filled with your chosen background colour (white by default).
Can I convert animated WebP?
Only the first frame is converted, because JPG is a single still image. A notice appears when an animated file is detected.
Is it private?
Yes — everything runs in your browser and no image is uploaded.
