What is the age & date difference calculator?

An age or date-difference calculator works out precisely how much time separates two dates. Give it a birth date to find someone's exact age, or two arbitrary dates to measure a project length, a countdown or a historical gap. It reports the difference both as a natural breakdown (years, months and days) and as a total number of days, which is handy for deadlines and billing.

How it works

The tool compares the two dates calendar-component by calendar-component. It subtracts the days first, borrowing from the months if the end day is earlier than the start day (using the actual number of days in the borrowed month), then subtracts months, borrowing from years as needed, and finally subtracts the years. This yields an exact years/months/days breakdown that respects varying month lengths and leap years. Separately, it computes the raw difference in milliseconds and divides to get the total number of days.

Worked example

For a birth date of 15 March 1990 measured on 28 September 2026, the calculator borrows correctly across months to report 36 years, 6 months and 13 days. It also shows the total as roughly 13,346 days. Swap in any two dates — say a contract start and end — and it reports the span the same way, including the exact total days for invoicing.
