Image Cropper

Crop an image with a draggable box and aspect-ratio presets, rotate and zoom, and export at full resolution — privately in your browser.

Drag & drop an image here, or

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP · or paste with Ctrl/⌘+V

Your images are never uploaded — everything runs entirely in your browser.

What is the image cropper?

An image cropper lets you keep just the part of a picture you want and cut away the rest. Unlike resizing, which shrinks the whole image, cropping changes what's in the frame — straightening a photo, focusing on a subject, trimming empty space, or forcing an exact shape like a square profile picture or a 16:9 banner. This is a hands-on, visual, one-image-at-a-time task, so the tool gives you an interactive crop box overlaid on your image: drag the middle to move it, drag the corners or edges to resize it, and see a live preview of the result as you go. You can lock the crop to common ratios (1:1, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2) or enter a custom ratio, and rotate or fine-tune the angle before cropping. Crucially, the export is rendered from the original full-resolution image, not the smaller on-screen preview, so the downloaded crop is as sharp as the source allows. It all runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded — and you can load a new image any time without leaving the page.

How it works

Add an image by dragging it in, choosing a file, or pasting from the clipboard. A crop box appears over it. Drag the box body to reposition it and drag any of the eight handles to resize; if you've selected an aspect-ratio preset, the box keeps that shape as you drag. Use the rotate buttons for 90° turns or the fine-rotation slider to straighten a crooked horizon, and the zoom slider to work more precisely on small details. The preview panel updates continuously to show exactly what you'll get, along with the output pixel dimensions. For accessibility, focus the crop area and nudge the box with the arrow keys (hold Shift for larger steps). When you're happy, choose an output format (PNG, JPG or WebP) and click Download — the tool maps your crop box from the display back to the source image's real pixels and renders the cut at full resolution, so quality isn't limited by the size of the on-screen preview.

Worked example

You have a wide holiday photo but need a clean square for a profile picture. You load the image, click the 1:1 preset, and a square crop box locks on. You drag it over your face, nudge it a couple of pixels with the arrow keys for perfect centring, and the preview shows the square result. The photo was slightly tilted, so you drag the fine-rotation slider a few degrees until the horizon is level. You pick PNG and download — and because the crop is rendered from the full-resolution original, the square is crisp, not a blurry enlargement of the preview.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to crop it?

No. Cropping happens entirely in your browser; the image is never sent to a server.

Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio?

Yes — pick 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or 3:2, or enter a custom ratio. The crop box then keeps that shape as you resize it.

Will the cropped image lose quality?

No. The crop is rendered from the full-resolution source, not the smaller preview, so the output is as sharp as the original allows.

Can I rotate or straighten the image?

Yes — rotate in 90° steps or use the fine-rotation slider to straighten a crooked photo before cropping.

Can I use the keyboard?

Yes — focus the crop area and use the arrow keys to nudge the crop box, holding Shift for larger steps.

What formats can I export?

PNG (lossless), JPG or WebP, with a quality slider for the lossy formats.
